Description: These materials make students
aware of the abuse of hens during modern egg production and
include photos of hens in a battery cage, a debeaked hen with
a neuroma, rows of hens in cages, and—for contrast—hens
perched in a tree at a sanctuary.
Suggested Uses: These pictures can be used
in conjunction with the battery cage activity in the “Perspectives
on Animals” or “Where
Do Eggs Come From?” lessons.
Making Transparencies: Use a color printer
to print the PDF pages onto transparency paper, or print them
on regular paper and color copy them onto transparency paper.
