Description: This beautifully illustrated
comic book tells the story of three students who visit an
animal sanctuary and learn fascinating facts about chickens
and chicken behavior. The sanctuary’s animal-care provider
tells the students exciting stories about how several of the
chickens came to live there. The book also contains a fun
word-find puzzle for readers to complete.
Suggested Uses: Distribute copies to students
to encourage reading, or if your students are too young to
read, read the story aloud while students follow along. Librarians
can provide copies at the check-out desk or give them out
as awards in reading programs. Science teachers can use the
comic to supplement lessons on animal behavior. Social studies
teachers and humane educators may want to use the comic to
discuss the proper care of animals.
