César Chávez Worksheets and Lesson Plans
Women's History Month Lesson Plans
March 2004
TeachKind's César Chávez worksheets and lesson plans for ages 5-18 can be used on their own or in conjunction with California's mandated César Chávez curriculum. The worksheets help promote Chávez's belief that "[o]nly when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves."
TeachKind's Women's History Month lesson plans feature award-winning author Alice Walker and pioneering scientist Jane Goodall. These lessons reinforce the important achievements of women in our society and promote the compassionate treatment of all animals.
Black History Month Lesson Plans
February 2004
TeachKind's Civil Rights Movement lesson will teach high school students about the struggle for civil rights in the 1960s and give them an opportunity to practice doing the same types of nonviolent actions on behalf of animals in product testing labs. The African-Americans for Animals lesson (for ages 11-18) and the African-Americans for Chickens lesson (for ages 5-10) seek to help students appreciate the contributions of African-Americans to our society and animals. The lesson also has printable pages that you can print to easily make a Black History Month wall display for a fun, visual way to help students remember the information covered in the lessons.

Lessons for a Humane Holiday
November 2003
Turkeys play a large role in many holiday festivities, but very few people take the time to think about the lives of these gentle birds. These lessons allow students to think critically about the plight of these benign birds. The activities for elementary, middle, and high school students will help them better understand turkeys and will generate interesting and thought-provoking discussions.
