The Alice Walker Poetry Contest
Famed novelist and poet Alice Walker recently wrote a poem protesting the cruel living conditions and slaughtering methods inflicted on chickens raised for KFC restaurants. Her poem inspired PETA to have a poetry contest. Read her beautiful poem to your class, and then ask your students to write poems of their own to enter the contest. The winner will receive an autographed copy of Alice Walker's poem.
