Win the New Book Above All, Be Kind: Raising a Humane Child in Challenging Times in TeachKind's Latest Contest for Educators!
This TeachKind Bulletin announces our new "Share Your Stories" Contest for educators and reminds you of the Yu-Gi-Oh! contest and posters for students. Plus, it highlights three new, free educational materials: TeachKind's "Humane Education" brochure, Farm Sanctuary's "My Friends at the Farm" video, and PCRM's Jenna Morasca "Alternatives to Dissection" poster. And we're also including a list of educational materials to help you integrate lessons of compassion into your courses in November. Enjoy!
Promote Humane Education With TeachKind's New Brochure
Our new "Humane Education" brochure introduces educators and administrators to what humane education is, why it's important, and how TeachKind can help educators with their humane education goals. Order free bulk quantities to share with your educator friends.
Free "My Friends at the Farm" Video and Curriculum
Farm Sanctuary recently created a new video entitled "My Friends at the Farm," which introduces students age 7 to 13 to three of the rescued animals who now live at the sanctuary: Tic Tac the chicken, Queenie the cow, and Winnie the pig. Follow the link above to learn more about the video, additional curricula (for students ages 6 to 17), and how to order a free copy of these items from Farm Sanctuary.
Free Jenna Morasca "Alternatives to Dissection" Poster
Jenna Morasca, winner of CBS's popular show Survivor: The Amazon, refused to dissect in her zoology courses at the University of Pittsburgh, even though she got a lower grade as a result. Now she has teamed up with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine to promote alternatives to the use of animals in science courses. Follow the link above to learn how you can receive your free poster from PCRM.
November's Humane Education Opportunities
The following is a listing of important November occasions that provide outstanding opportunities to bring humane education programs and materials into your classroom, coupled with materials and lessons that will allow you to initiate the subject with style:
World Vegan Day (Nov. 1)
Thanksgiving (November 25)
