Virtual Field Trips
On your next class field trip, how would your students like to explore the inside of a volcano, peek under a rainforest canopy, travel to the South Pole, or observe elephants at play?
Today's technology-the Internet, Web cams, streaming video, and more-makes traveling the world without leaving the classroom a real possibility, and is raising the bar for the design of creative, engaging, and educational virtual outings.
Forget permission slips, bus schedules, time-consuming preparation, and giving up valuable classroom time. More and more teachers are passing on old standbys like zoos, aquariums, circuses, and rodeos, where kids learn little about the beauty, majesty, and needs of animals and the habitats in which they live.
Order a free circus education pack if you're willing to ask your school board to prohibit field trips to animal circuses and other destinations that desensitize children to animal suffering.

- Saskatoon East School Division Number 41 offers resources to help teachers integrate technology with their curricula.
- The Elephant Sanctuary provides a curriculum that integrates various subjects, such as math and science, while teaching students about elephants. They also supply you with curriculum lesson plans and worksheets to accompany your trip.
