The Amazing Pig
The following heartwarming story about a pig who performed a heroic rescue made international news. Read the story aloud, and then use the questions below to spur an interesting and valuable discussion with your class.
Carol Burke and her 11-year-old son were swimming when the young boy unintentionally drifted away from the shore. When he realized his predicament, he panicked and began to sink. The boy's pet pig, Priscilla, sensed the boy's distress, rushed into the water, and began to swim toward him while his terrified mother watched. Luckily, the boy was able to remain afloat until Priscilla reached him. He grabbed her leash, and Priscilla swam back toward the shore with her friend. The boy's mother was awestruck by the courage of this remarkable pig.
